Will swap for milk tanker
Wouldn’t mind the Ivatt but that might be a bit of a stretch ☺️
For those interested there is also a general update on activities with TVR 28
Facebook link but open access
You can have a Palvan.
Well, if the owner ever moved to Wales you never know, but depends where........ until then, its not ours to give away & any way, we like it - tis a goodly little loco!
I mean, the TVR O1 (if it were running) would be a fair swap... We need a few nice pre-grouping things up the MHR!
From the latest volunteers newsletter:-
AGM The Annual General Meeting of the Gwili Railway Co. Ltd. will take place at Llanpumsant Village Hall starting at 11.00am on Saturday 17th November 2018 followed by the Annual General Meeting of the Gwili Railway Preservation Society starting at 2pm. The Notice of the GRPS AGM may be found on the back page of your VNL
1. More parts of the Olwen puzzle
2. Moorbarrow and Welsh Guardsman being prepped for the gala tomorrow. Come and join us for a day of action, including a 6- car special with these two engines in the afternoon.
Again an article covering the troublesome restauration of carriages in the harsh weather in Wales. It also gives us information concerning the planned carriage shed.
Pictures on the Facebook page (open access) of 0-6-0T “Jennifer” arriving from Llangollen as this year’s standby loco to “Welsh Guardsman”.
Meanwhile the boiler of 0-6-0ST “Moorbarrow” has been removed from the frames and has been sent to the north of England for repair. 0-4-0ST “Olwen” is also progressing steadily with the frames being stripped and painted and we are also getting stuck into the construction of the loco pit in the shed.
Also not forgetting TVR28 which sees regular work parties, which can also be followed on the TVR 28 Facebook page, again open access.
Jennifer in the West Wales rain,
What happened to Merlin?
Merlin left the railway a number of years ago. Do you you mean Moorbarrow, if so she is out of service after her boiler ticket expired.
Merlin left the Gwili in 1988, had various residences after that but is now at the Telford Steam Railway. Currently under repair I believe.
Thanks Matt. I sorta remembered that Merlin had left but didn't recall where s/he was now. I remember Merlin fondly from the early 80s
Well it's farewell to all my friends at the Gwili as I've now moved over to the far side of England (which would mean a six hour drive to visit...)
I will be keeping an eye on you from a distance though (you don't get let off that easily! )
Well Allan your always welcome back !
so a re-name is likely? Nenevalleyalan? Eppingandongaralan? Northnorfolkalan? Bressinghamgardensandsteammuseeumalan?
Maybe even KESRAlan... You'll just have to wait and see.
The KESR is one of the most friendly Railways I have visited in recent years.
