Unfortunately Olwen was always further down the list with both Haulwen and TVR28 ahead in the queue both of which are much more suited to hauling 5 car sets over 4 miles.

    regards

Hi Matt, what facilities do you hope to have open at Abergwili in time for the new season? It was interesting seeing the progress throughout this year but you all have a big task on your hands!

    cheers
    Tom

    Afternoon Tom

the cafe and toilets are due to be functional for Easter, these are the facilities moved from Bronwydd last spring. We also hope to have the Dan Do shed open to the public during the year with various displays; as well as the new platform one. We won’t have a proper station building just yet so the booking office/shop will be in the form of a portable cabin for now.

    regards

    Matt

    Hi matt,

On Facebook there is news of a new donation of track! To be ear marked for abergwili? Will this free some up for future expansion?

    hi Tom

likely that the track components will be used for sidings at Abergwili. We have a reasonable stock of rail for any future extensions and repairs and renewals thanks to a few recent acquisitions.

    regards

    Matt

It is at the moment, although this will be rectified by the start of the 2024 running season.

We finished the season yesterday in typical weather but with a sparkle of colour….

Overall it’s been a very good year down in west wales with the main highlight being the opening of the new car park. So far it has proved its worth with the better access and spacious parking making for a busier year.

Lots planned in 2024 as we seek to commission the second platform at Abergwili plus open the “Dan Do” carriage shed. Numerous rolling stock projects ongoing so without making any predictions we can keep these pages updated.

wishing all the good readers of NatPres a happy and prosperous new year,

    regards

    Matt

Amazing what you’ve accomplished this year. I really hope I can squeeze in a visit this year.
