Guessing 44932 looks favourite to support if 45231 isn't ready.

If the six car pm set is the air braked mk2s 44871 will be the only option presently. Or a 37.

David, it's reported on Scot-rail gen site that 44871 worked it yesterday .

I'll have two bob on 45407 going up there. With Galatea not 100% ready for action and 48151 setting the countryside alight, I think they'll want 44932 and 61994 at Carnforth for the moment.

A good bet. The owner of 61306 is quoted as being available to help wcr out but not the Jacobite due to tyre wear. If the B1 went to 10A it might release 44932 till either 45231 or 45407 can be sent.

5407 doesn't appear to have much work at NYMR

That being so we can expect the loco to go where the work and therefore money is fairly soon.

Is it known why the pm set has consisted of air brake stock since its introduction? Assume it is the only set available due to other operations but it does mean less flexibility in the rostering if anything untoward happens.
Mind you there is only 2 steam there anyhow so its not as if a substitute could be turned out in the event of failure.

Obviously, based on the evidence of the photo from yesterday after the steam failure.

Just got back from caravanning in Scotland. Called in at the Fort and managed to see 44871 waiting to leave with the afternoon 'Jacobite' on 4 June. Also saw 62005 at Mallaig and 44871 at Loch nan Uamh on the 6th. Not as spectacular as Henry's shots by a long way but more of a record. A bit off topic but has anyone else who has been up there noticed the sad decline of the main shopping street in Fort William? I was surprised to see so many empty shops and shops with 'closing down sale' notices in the window.
