Damn.... Im wanting to see the K1 in Scotland and that isnt the week for it... have to do further research to confirm it... but thanks for the start.

I was wondering if they needed to bring a Black 5 south for the 15 Guniea special, meaning the K1 would work that week before the bank holiday.

44871 is not coming South for the 15 Guniea special.

So is it expected to be that the K1 works the week commencing the 12th August and 26th?

Just asking in case maintainance causes changes with washouts, repairs etc..

So can we assume that whilst there are 3 loco available they each do two weeks on and one week off?

Afraid not Ralph, the AM train is alternated between the K1 and 45407 with 44871 on the PM train although 54 worked the afternoon train a couple of weeks ago as a certain driver wanted "his" engine ;) . Otherwise 44871 is always on the PM train.

Well.... Im looking to head to Scotland for the Jacobite after the Bank Holiday here in august. Would be helpful to know just how easy some of the photographic locations are to get to as Ive only been up the area once. Im particularly intrested in getting to the one off the end of Loch Eilt, which has the train passing through cliffs cut out with the Loch to the left. Any others would be helpful...

    Thanks in advance...

Not done it myself, but the 'official' route is a several hour long walk. I believe many of those who have done it in the past have taken a certain short cut...

Great capture Henry - and just about the only sun for the whole journey (you may just be able to see me peeping out of the front window!).

Video of 62005 from the following day at Beasdale Summit:

Hopefully some more onboard and lineside shots to follow.

Said elsewhere that 62005 is returning to Carnforth (engine only) via low loader for attention to a number of firebox stays. Any idea if she'll make it back up for the the West Highalander at the end of September?
