    With due respect , whatever happened with Kingfisher as a tour operator , those behind it have a tremendous amount of knowledge on the operating side of steam railtours . Just because someone advises doesn't make the recipient into a potential liability

    After careful consideration PTG Tours have decided not to develop steam tours in the UK - We will stick to what we do best and continue to be one of the leading operators of rail holidays in Europe and beyond.

    Mr Hardingham had only advised us to try tours with Tornado and had, or has, no involvement with PTG Tours Limited.

    That's a shame, and I hope the adverse reaction from some to RH's involvement wasn't what prompted this decision. It is hard to make a profit from running mainline steam in the UK, and I suppose there is a risk that a few loss-making UK tours could hamper the overseas business. Is there room for another major promoter at the moment, given the economic climate? Hard to say. I hope PTG may be inspired to try again later, if the economy improves.
