Where are the passengers in the rest of the train supposed to get out. Out the side doors? Surely the whole train load don't queue to get out at the end. I know the tunnels are tight but if it is considered that hazardous...well.

I wonder how they would evacuate a Javelin stuck in Shakespeare Tunnel. No end doors on them surely.

Im pretty sure the end doors is the only way of evacuating in Shakey tunnel owing to the tight clearences, certainly you woulden't be able to build a tunnel with such clearences these days, but where in the NR budget is the many millions to rebuild them to a wider profile ?.

Saw 395s along Folkestone Warren in June heading to and from Dover so they must have been allowed at the time.

Javelin's have recessed sliding doors rather than plug or 'slam' doors, which combined with a realignment of the track inside the tunnel give just enough room to allow 395's to be evacuated from the side. (info from KentRail)
