I assume this is the move then may have a wander down to Lancaster to see them through.

Incredible ascent of Wilpshire tonight. Could hear Galatea for about 10 minutes before she passed, and even distorted the audio on my microphone.

Here's my video of Galatea a bit earlier, slipping on Lindal Bank:

Looks like been a good day, would this be a viable repeated itinery trip possibly starting at Lancaster or Preston? The combination of the scenery down the coast and a run down the S&C would make it jolly attractive.

Yes it would but not with 11/410 gross. Mick Kelly and Rob Russell wrung every last bit of tractive effort out of her. 27-5 minutes with speed dropping away from 36 at MP 263 to 24 at the top. Min of 19 up through Wilpshire. In my opinion Galatea is better so well done to West Coast for tweaking her but she remains an average Jubilee and if you hang more than 10 off her she will struggle a bit. That said, she kept to time.

There was smoke outside the shed at 10A this morning, which I assume was 46233 and 45690. There was also smoke rising from behind the station. Looking at RTT, the Scot has only just left! 100L away from Carnforth despite moving off Steamtown on time.

This service was cancelled between Penrith North Lakes and Oxenholme Lake District due to unknown cause ().

Might only have been 19 at the top of Wilpshire Bank but it was a very noisy 19. I was on the platform at Ramsgreave & Wilphsire, it was a very still night and 45699 could be heard for several minutes before entering the tunnel, once out the exhaust echoed in the cutting long before the loco came into view - it was eerie and sounded just as though it was approaching from the Blackburn direction!

I've had 2 recent runs southbound over the S&C behind Galatea with the same load. I took a look at the GPS data for MP275 to MP260 (as close as I could get - set for 0.1 mile recording, and definitely 15 miles). Dalesman 20 Aug (Gordon Hodgson) 24m 59s and Dalesman 27 Aug (Mick Kelly) 24m 10s. The corresponding northbound runs Settle Jn to Blea Moor Box; 20 Aug (David Blair) 33m 53s (stopped at Horton in R for 3 min), 27 Aug (David Blair) 30m 16s. The CME 22 Sep (Peter Kirk & 45690) 30m 11s. I think that they all illustrate that a Jubilee with 11 has nothing in hand, you get what you get on the day!

Yes. Scot at Carnforth at 0845 with train. TBH It made little sense to drag the whole train to Penrith when most passengers are actually boarding at Oxenholme. So that's where I am now waiting for the first Scot into Euston since 196?.

I know we should treat RTT with caution sometimes, but... just looked at the page for the Carnforth-Penrith ECS and seen this at the top of the page:

"This service was cancelled between Tebay and Penrith North Lakes due to a problem with the traction equipment (MC)."

The last time shown is passing Tebay at 0943, 109L

UPDATE: As Al implies, looks like the ECS was turned back at Tebay, and is now heading south as 1Z54, only about 5L

It left Carnforth at 11.37, 2 late and so has reverted to its original path.
