Well if we're talking narrow gauge - Fire Queen - with a railway to run her on, plus a recreation of one of the Hunslet 0-6-0s that replaced her

William Francis, Cornwall, Columbine, Hardwicke, Aerolite, 1621, Cecil Raikes, the Caledonian single, the Jones Goods, Gordon Highlander, and Glen Douglas. If I had to narrow it down to one, the Caley single would win every time.

A class 70, even better if theirs a pair of them.

You hardly need a match with a class 70, they seem to go up all right of their own accord!

I would love to see a LMS Garratt again BUT I doubt if current track standards could tolerate such a behemoth - let alone certify it for the main line.

Are their nicknames, "Vesta's" by any chance?..........

Personally, I'd like to put a match to any of this modern day muck that runs on petroleum distillate....... and the mobile transformers too! :)

As for chucking a match in the firebox of a steam loco. no preference what so ever....... I'm just grateful for what we've got, even if some OD on Brasso....... ;)

Where to start? Very appreciative of what we have but N & W 2156, 232U1 and for home consumption 4771.

Prefer N&W 1218, but still a good selection.

That LSWR395 class doesn't half look like a J15. Obviously not identical but at first glance...I'd like M&GN 50. The boiler has been spirited away somewhere for unknown purposes. I live in hope (but not expectation) that a random millionaire is building a M&GN C Class as we speak

  18. In service on the East Lancs ;)

My choice would be all four surviving USA tanks in steam in the same place at the same time.

I'm hoping I live long enough to see' Beachy Head' and the Saint ( running as an Atlantic) as I've never seen an Atlantic in steam.
