Just had confirmation from RTC. Does not say who the TOC is but assume it's DBS.

We are delighted to confirm that our Midday Scot tour on Saturday 19th March will be going ahead as planned, hauled by 46233 Duchess of Sutherland on the outward journey and diesel hauled on the return.

We are currently awaiting the final timings for the tour from Network Rail and as soon as we have these we will despatch your boarding pass to you by email or post.

Looks like good news for those who hold tickets for this.

Hence why I've been on this thread, PMR's FB page and RTT like a rash! Still, one does wonder where 46233 will be heading after its sojourn in Edinburgh. Its a long way for an unremunerative balancing move.

Well done RTC and thank you to all the other parties who kept this one running (we hope). Let's see what DBS crew can do with the big girl, I've got new batteries ready for my GPS.

On UK Steam info, it is still booked as heading the "Royal Scot" from Glasgow to Liverpool on the 26th March, which is not labelled as cancelled.

    Cheers,

    Alan

The website is not quite up-to-date as RTC have cancelled it.

Not much point sending out tickets until they have the finalised times from NR to include.

True. Anyone got any insider info on when the Duchess is being extricated from Carnforth Shed?

From a conversation I had earlier this afternoon, it seems that the Duchess will arrive at Manchester Victoria on the rear of the ecs. She is likely too return to Crewe light engine on the Tuesday following the tour.
Just passing on what I've been told so please don't shoot the messenger if it turns out to be duff gen.

Was wondering if DB would have preferred to take the Duchess and POB across separately as a familiarisation turn. Can't remember the last time any of their crews handled her. Anyone know when that was?

2009 I think someone said in either this thread or the RTC one?

More a general comment on competences on the mainline, but on modern traction would one be allowed to just go out driving with a trainload of passengers having not driven the type for c.7 years?

It's no different to driving a locomotive for the first time in three or four years after a protracted overhaul, but its probably a case of assessing the risks and instructing the crew members accordingly.
