Well here we are for a stop in the countryside to admire the landscape of flatness punctuated by the odd church. A nice FL run to WG City peaking at 67 before we were switched. Hurried along behind the stopper when we were allowed.

After a special request to NR we have been allowed to move up to the Nene Viaduct where we can enjoy the view of Orton Mere while we wait time.

Looking and sounding good at St Neots, trying to make up the time lost behind the stopper to Peterborough.

Looked and sounded good between Helpston and Bainton about 12.15. Plenty of black smoke, so the fireman must have been busy. It shows such a vote of confidence in the loco to let it work through the lovely English countryside with no diesel on the back.

Lol. Unusual to be on the fast after a stop at Potters Bar. Decided to do a simple run past shot and stand back and watch her go past. At the last minute I realised she was on the down fast rather than the slow. A subtle last minute adjustment with a mini zoom, think I got away with it;).

Here we are at Rowsley. Water loco, coal loco, turn loco , remarshall support coach to other end of train. Reconnect 34052. All in an hour. I don't think so as it is turning out. Best estimate is 30 late off Rowsley. Anyway it's downhill to Derby!

Except 17:22 ex Notingham could be in the way? Could be a fight for the single track?

Looking at the PR website, today's timetable had to be amended / reduced to accommodate the incoming Railtour, and I belive a year or so ago, a day's service was cancelled in lieu of an incoming charter???!!! Does anyone know if this is this normal practice at PR on such occasions? Can passing loops not be used to maintain the timetabled service alongside? Just curious, I'm sure the 'pros' outweigh the 'cons'!

Lord Lucan going was going well on the return through MilFord, making the most of downhill stretch. The loco could be heard whistling through Belper, which was a good mile away. Hope Al makes his connection and thanks for the reports.

That would have been Peterborough (Nene Valley) you were looking at. Orton Mere is out of sight about a mile and a half away. :)

Having made up shedloads of time on the lax schedule, passing through St Neots now only 5 down (and on the fast as booked)

Reason for delay is a bad dose of coal. Prickers out at Stevenage.
