Peter Briddon has written a novel, "The Railway to Merhead" about a battle to save a fictional branch line in the early 1960's, currently available on Amazon only. I like it, can't fault the technical detail so far. Some of the wilder plot twists have parallels in anecdotal history which Pete wasn't aware of. I wonder what a non-enthusiast would make of it?

I'm sure many of the events described are based on things that really happened. Take the electricity pole incident - you couldn't make it up!
