Buseng (what a daft user name!) seems to lose any level of sensibility when anyone tries to offer any kind of viewpoint that differs from his steam must run at all costs diatribes.
All quite troll like and very predictable.

Ray, did you really have to post something actually about the train covered in the title of this thread?

It's got in the way of the Sunday night punch up going on at present!

PS. Anyone here had a shandy or two tonight?

    ;)

You are entitled to your opinions/thoughts on this, BUT there is still no need to post such remarks obviously intended to provoke a violent backlash. Which is what you got.

I have no objection to mixed traction in fire risk times, if it means the tour runs with some steam presence. Really dont mind if the oil burner is on the back or tucked behind the steam.

However, they are wasting everyones time (pax and gricers) if the put the oil burner up front. And all this talk of the rule book having all traction units up front is rubbish - I have seen too many tours this year getting a massive shove through the entire trip to have any store by that. Its not beyond the wit of the ToC and NR to plan this stuff sufficiently to have fire safe (ie for show only) steam presence up front, anything else is a "don't care about the fare payers" attitude.

As I have already stated : Steam has been on the mainline for the last 42 YEARS and will do so for the next 42 YEARS. It is a pity about the hot summer but let's hope that next summer is as wet as the one in 2012 and all of these anti-steam posts will disappear in a cloud of steam!!

I believe it comes from the words Bus Engineer. To make it easy I've highlighted how those two words combine to give buseng.

As for the name Desiro450. Oh golly gosh, does that mean there are another 449 of you around here somewhere?

You are starting to get personal now, I use what user name I like! None of your business. Again I repeat, I have NOT mentioned anything about today's events. Like others I am objecting to the comments you made trying to inflame the situation.

Reputation for unreliability on some of them, be waiting an extra hour for your 47 hauled train to turn up, when it finally arrives behind a nicked 37 or 56.

It's just a personal preference of mine that if I was photting on the lineside I'd prefer the steam loco first, with the box coupled behind it. To me it looks more like a proper train.

Indeed, if I ever got into a situation of being on such a train, and somehow still timed it, I would again prefer the two locos to be together at the front for the same reason. And because I did time such a situation in the 1960s a couple of times.

Anyway, won't go on any more as I'm missing all the fun while I type this! They might have got around to insulting me by now. (Total waste of time, water off a ducks back etc etc, and I'll probably join in and agree with any insults directed at me).

PS. With those brackets, should the full stop be inside or out? Or should I have used two full stops, one each side of the final bracket? Oh the problems of being a pig ignorant bas...d.

You started the tosh about usernames.
As soon as anyone has a go back at you you start waving the victim card around.
Can't take it old timer? Don't dish it out.
Now just accept other people have different opinions to you, including NR controllers and stop your bellyaching.

Given the ability of the Standard 7MT preserved duo to drop out at short notice, sometimes for long periods sans trace, maybe it would be a good idea if another option could be found.

On another note, could the afflicted keep on mocking one another, it makes for a little entertainment.

    Sorry Sidmouth.

Well that was a fun read! Getting back on topic - the 47 sounded rough when it was on the front earlier...and 44932's cocks were wheezing away when it was being turned at Par - forgetting all that lineside fire and "where is the box" business for a sec, the poor support crew and driver looked mighty grumpy. Perhaps today was just a bad day all round? Looking forward to 34046 on the 29th, by which time hopefully it won't take me 100 years to get to my photo spot as the crutches will be completely gone!! I set up the camera today in anticipation but didn't bother with the 47 on the front - took some pictures just to capture the event on my phone though...

well yeti in my view the only true motive power for this train is a Castle, 5043 or 5029, though I have to admit that Ollie gave me double even time runs last year

Probably the best chance if an et run for the remaining main line steam runs this year, whatever the steam loco

Dry weather for the next few days then Autimn rains I think.

    Don
