Braunton seemed to take Whiteball and rattery with ease had a feeling I heard it briefly slip up rattery could be wrong.but she just quietly got on with things.

Best of four runs I’ve had with 34046, so far. Let’s be clear 55 mph Whiteball Challenge speed (Eastbound) {53 mph at the summit} with load 9 is unspectacular, generally the climbing of 34046 isn’t top class but the time up Dainton Eastbound was very good, certainly the best climb of the day. The loco does seem to be running up to speed better now, although the load is lighter than on ‘Torbay Express’ runs. Nevertheless even-time both ways between Taunton and Yatton is a good performance.

Just a hint yesterday that ‘The Royal Duchy’ will be back in 2014 and hopefully with improved timings; it was acknowledged that the path in the morning is very drawn out. As is usual the train yesterday ran ahead of time pretty much all day apart from a delayed departure from Exeter waiting for other trains.

Thanks to WCR, RTC, NR, Braunton support crew etc.

Looking forwards to 2014 and please a return to Bristol no later then 9 pm if possible.
