Thanks Dave. Still no improvements to the timings on the outward. C'est la vie. According to Nigel the diesel will not be on the rear for the return from Plymouth, Post#175 on this thread, unless you know something we don't...

At the moment there is a path showing in the system for a diesel light engine Bristol-Plymouth, but not (yet) for Plymouth-Bristol. It could change !

Hope so because Hemerdon should be the highlight of the day.

Wrong fence! The post and chain fence was fitted by DBC, and can be simply lifted out, and then replaced. A bit of sound, helpful and co-operative thinking by DBC. It is the big posts outside the shed doors, which are actually Bullhead rail, that were gas-axed off about 12" up, then fly fished back up. The owner of the site will not allow the fence to be removed again.

Thanks for that. Sounds like an OTT solution.

I see where Dave is coming from. OTT has the train arriving in Plymouth P8 at 1848. The train has two indicators, 1st RR and 2nd AE. RR indicates a runaround manoeuvre, i.e. engine to run around train and attach on the rear. The next movement involving P8 is AE, attach an engine, the Duchess being due to return from Laira into P8 at 1922 for the 1934 departure. There is no light engine return path. OTT ain't infallible and might have assumed the RR. To put our minds at rest will someone from WCRC or meltonnorth comment on this, bearing mind the latters post "The Diesel will work light engine to and from Plymouth and will not be attached to the train it will work the train Plymouth to Par and return"???

    Update this morning:
OTT has now changed and is showing a loco change only at Plymouth.

and there's no water stop at Totnes so Dainton should be a bit special too.

The diesel is coming off the train and going light back to Bristol straight away.

Just to confirm that a return path for the diesel from Plymouth to Bristol has now appeared in the system.

Good news. One of our members in particular can relax now. ;)

Light rain is forecast in the west country for Saturday so no worries about fire risk.

All looking good at present for a memorable tour. <BJ>

And calling him this on a public forum is really going to help isn't it.

That's a good question because there don't seem to be any trains going west during the layover. Nothing showing tomorrow between 0932 and 1034.

A grumpy man will always be grumpy, and I would probably refer to him as grumpy to his face, so no real problem actually :)

65ft turntable just is not big enough when locomotives of 70ft+ are what is available.

Lot of overhang putting a 73ft 10in locomotive on a 65ft turntable. I was surprised it went down on the 7th.

Likewise. I'm glad she did though as its probably never going to happen again in my neck of the woods...
