Saw it climbing to Whitchurch, made a great noise with no diesel on the rear!

Not only is the picture very good, but the caption gave me a smile!

I always think its lovely the second life 48151 is having as a very busy passenger locomotive, bet she had now got ideas well above her station! :):D;)

Everytime I see her on passenger I imagine she is sticking up two fingers to him! Should be more 8 coupled freights on the mainline!

I have reminded DHW of that fact many times!

The 'Carnforth Duchess' has been a mainstay of steam charters for over 30 years and in that time has been to most extremities of the network.

No surprise either that it's the steam loco that's covered the most miles over the S&C post 1968, by a considerable margin.

48151 has given me and members of my family many a happy day out behind her over the S&C so thanks for all at West Coast James for keeping her on the mainline. Even Gordon Hodgson praised her saying it will get you anywhere you want and won’t let you down .

The run back from Shrewsbury was even better, kept to schedule to Crewe, then after some calls to control, set off, through Warrington making those on the platform stare in surprise, missed out the pathing stop at Springs Branch junc, and the stop at Wigan arriving at Preston well early. Away from there early and into Carnforth for loco change 30 early....
    Those little wheels certainly twinkled....

Filmed at Nantwich on the outbound leg, running a few minutes late, following a late running Transport for Wales Manchester to Carmarthen service...
