Going back to that photograph, one comment made last night when I was showing it to some non railway friends, 'It has the look of a modern day Constable painting'..

Understand that they had a VIP on the train from York on the evening circle.Managed to get to Garforth before catching something up being routed on the Leeds line to Church Fenton from York.
Shame that it's only when someone in Government turns up that they manage to give the steam a clear run from York. They were obviously trying to impress.

Rt Hon Lord Andrew Adonis, Secretary of State for Transport no less.
However, we didn't get a clear run from York to Leeds. We followed a stopper in from Micklefield which put paid to what would have been a very fast time.
We did stay on the Leeds line from Colton Jc. though.
And we have now found out the reason for the routing from Colton S. Jc to Church Fenton.
Apparently this is to allow another train to overtake on the Leeds line. Said train runs Mondays Only. And you've probably already guessed that it doesn't run on Bank Holidays. Good old NR strikes again!
Perhaps the remaining SSEs will stick to the Leeds line from now on but there's nothing much to be done about the services trains beyond Micklefield unfortunately.

Indeed, 480 on to Scarborough yesterday. It's getting busy.
Anyone thinking of turning up for a pay on the day on Bank Holiday Monday may like to know (or perhaps may not like to know) that as of yesterday morning there were just 9 seats remaining available for booking.
However, while it will probably be full and standing between York & Scarborough, the circles should have some spare capacity - but don't quote me.

Thank you for the kind comments, it's much appreciated. [IMG]

I was working today, however I just happened to be in Scarborough at lunchtime and caught "Cromwell" on the windy flatlands at Seamer.
(I seem to be getting birds in shots at the moment)

    Another fine shot Stuart...

Some nice noisy running out of Leeds and was fortunate to be able to share a window at the front.

Now I could have done with that pint Frank.. Nice to meet and chat, certainly passed the time quickly on the way home..

    Video now sorted..

Thanks Stuart, sorry but that's the lot, I only joined at Leeds and once we left Harrogate the noise level had reduced a bit and it was too dark as well..
I was also sharing the window, so was not able to take quite as much footage as I would have otherwise.

Apologies if this is daft question but I can't find the answer on West Coast's website. I'm hoping to get a ride on next Tuesday's Scarborough Spa and I'm debating whether to go 1st or standard class.

What extra do you get for going 1st class (apart from a more luxurious seat, I would hope....)? Hope someone can answer this fairly promptly as I'd like to get it booked tonight - thanks!

Don't know about the service at your seat, but I think that the First is at the front of the train on the way to Scarborough.Usally at the rear on the return.
    Hope this is of help.
