Thought the shot going though the carriage corridor rather than the horses going direct into the luggage compartment was done for the fantasy effect, I expect the off shot horse handlers will have took all H and S precautions.

I have always thought of this idea. At a gala it would get good crowds of railways could have a cattle truck and people could watch sheep being loaded or some cows to make the goods train more authentic. A man could also put some boxes into another truck or some milk. As long as the sheep are made happy doing it I can’t see it being a problem as most railways are under 7 moles long

Depends what it's 7 moles of, surely. Were it 42.15498532×10^23 meters (as the SI standard unit of measurement), that would be, by far, the longest railway line in the known universe, and would take a few million years to traverse at 25mph max.

    Off topic but fun: https://what-if.xkcd.com/4/

(A bit of maths: a railway 7 mol-miles long = 4 *10^24 miles. Round figures, there are 10,000 hours in a year, and you could cover 250,000 miles; 10^6 miles in 4 years. So you'd need 16 * 10^18 years to traverse your 7 mole-mile long railway at heritage line speeds - one way. Return journeys take twice as long, plus a twenty minute allowance for the run round...)

    Big question.
What sort of Mole are we talking about?
A little Black furry animal or something secret that is flown around the world in Thunderbird 2? :):)

One of the episodes of Full Steam Ahead featured this, filmed at Corfe Castle on the Swanage Railway where there are suitable pens. The appropriate licences had to be obtained (i think from DEFRA) and all required measures to ensure the well being and safety of the sheep., TBH IMHO it would be too challenging to replicate at a gala particularly as the sheep may become stressed by repeated boarding etc.
