    More lack of native wit. One would think that given that it's a steam locomotive, and that it produces large clouds of said substance while in operation, one could fairly easily reason out that it therefore needs considerable quantities of water to operate.... (While that conclusion needs the datum that steam is water in a gaseous state, I furthermore assume that is not beyond the scope of most people's scientific/kitchen knowledge...) Scary.

    No it's the lack of using basic common sense. There is a guy who regularly posts videos on yt but he still commented on a CME that we stopped at Hellifield to refuel......

    Now you say that, but had they stood at harbour station even 5 years ago they could have watched a steam engine being filled up with fuel oil/diesel. Diesel is not a million miles away from petrol on your standard forecourt. You need water to make steam, but you also need a fuel source...

    We seem to get on average 1 person a day thinking the SVR station is in fact the mainline one, prehaps it's cos ours actually looks like a station. I'm almost suspicious when people ask when the next train is whether they are wanting the Valley or over the road.
