I was on that MRTS special, which went Brighouse, Huddersfield, Penistone, Sheffield Victoria - but no-one seemed to be able to confirm that FS run - and Six Bells Junction was no help on this occasion.

Can anyone give us chapter and verse???

    - and yes - I said it was a cracking route - well now its been opened up and its attractive properties demonstrated, so "use it or lose it"

Thanks. Now that I've got the date, I've found my notes. I joined at Wakefield Kirkgate and from there the route outward was Huddersfield, Penistone, Barnsle, Stairfoot, Wath, Darnall, Worksop, Retford & Gainsborough Central. The return came via Lincoln & Gainsborough Lea Road then as outward. The only section where my notes let me down is the precise route between Wath and Darnall and I'm not sure if we went via Rotherham Masboro' or Central but I have a feeling that it was Masboro' and we did Treeton Junctions and Shepcote Lane to get to Darnall. A proper track bashers railtour!
The diesel that pushed us up to Pensitone was 6710 if anyone's interested!

No I do not currently volunteer
It's made a lot more difficult because of the long left hand bend, it adds a great deal of drag.

    Well that clears it up!

Wonder when the update was done - Barnsley wasn't mentioned last time I looked - still - that's what updating is all about.
