According to UK Steam postponed to 2nd November, due to engineering works.

Nothing to do with the RTC, but the Tin Bath seems to be one of the most problematic trips to set up and run on the chosen date. So all credit to the RTC for persevering with NR as it's a really good route, if you've not done it before.

Agreed Al, there's the NR dimension plus who would have predicted no Black Fives available for a tour on a Sunday in May. It will be interesting to see where on the route the engineering possession is. All credit to RTC for persevering with the one-offs in the shoulder months for which the amount of organisation per pound of revenue must be high compared with running the Waverley etc in the summer. How many letters will RTC have sent out by the time it runs? How many emails and calls to WCR and NR? Keep going guys and gals.

It must be a real headache for sure.
Is a lack of black 5s any factor though?.

Let's see where the possession is--- if it's at Edale or Copy Pit then no. If it's at Moorthorpe then yes because no loco available for the restricted Barnsley/Penistone route. Could have done with 61264 or 61306 in the situation they were in.

Update-- letter from RTC says engineering works which caused postponement from 11 to 25 May have caused this further postponement. According to posts at the top of the thread these were on the Calder Valley line in which case motive power issue was immaterial. Letter says route on 2 Nov will be Barnsley/Penistone and locos will be 44871 and 45305. I'm not sure of my E Manchester geography but it also says the route is Man Vic--Denton-Stockport-Hazel Grove chord line which is different from the May 25 route.

Engineering work is at Moorthorpe on 25th and going off RTC letter most likely Todmorden too now as final commissioning of Todmorden Curve has slipped back to that weekend, which is also causing postponement of Pathfinder's 'Topper Chopper' the day before.

Well I was booked on it, and now told them to cancel my ticket, as am not being messed about by 3 changes in a few months, as people who are in jobs cannot keep asking for days off just to suit, yes it may not be RTC's fault but it always seems to be them who either change or cancel, but its different if it was a service train, looked forward to it climbing Copy pit too, with Oliver and 61994 too

On the other hand, there may be folks who couldn't rearrange leave when the train was postponed a couple of weeks but who may now be able to travel on the 2nd Nov.

Maybe so, but when you book something, then you do not expect things to change 3 times, in a few months, as I was booked on one of the other trips by RYTC and again it was changed to other dates, and as I work shifts, then have to plan my holidays/days off.
Although it is worthwhile, it is a let down to many who book for these tours and cannot re-book for the changed date, but does make me wonder whether to book just in case it happens again.

RTC run the vast majority of steam charters, they also work hard doing rare track and once a year trips, so taking all this into account, sometimes a tour is going to hit problems. So do they just cancel and leave it for next year, no they go ahead and try to run it in as near original format as possible. then the machinations of NR take over, upgrading work closes the line for that weekend, other engineering work makes the route unavailable, but still RTC make every effort to run.
So do they stick to regular itineraries and please most of the people or keep trying to do the difficult ones that do get postponed and please a few.
Give them a break and appreciate what they do to further our enjoyment.

I've received an email from RTC in connection with the Tin Bath & there's no suggestion that it's off. I'll be well cheesed off if it is after the recent problems.

61994/70013 would mean missing the climb to Penistone as they are out of gauge Barnsley-Penistone
