A good selection of class 33s and a TC/VEP/CIG to work with a 33/1 in push pull mode.

No Peaks or Duffs! Takes cover behind furniture.....Trains on time, warm and sunny. Enough time when changing trains to take a couple of pictures. Plenty of openable droplights at either end (NOT Dining facilities next to locos....).

Oh, and lots of locos that I haven't previously ridden behind.

I cant wait to see D5705 running, really looking forward to that, that and D8233 although the class 15 isnt really my favourite.

those 2 with the Clayton, class 40's, type 2's etc all in green, east lancs, although at the GCR would be great.

a few steamers thrown in, black 5s, mix of double headed steam and diesel, recreating the days when they did that, either intentionally or when the diesels failed :)

1497 "Freshwater" = Mid Norfolk Railway and, as you say, 1498 "Farringford" = Epping Ongar Railway.
In answer to an earlier 'wish' for Units/73's as a frequent Swanage-Wareham shuttle - until Worgret Junction signalling is upgraded back to passenger rated standard this would not seem practicable. Currently any movements require substantial numbers of NR and Swanage Railway personnel to control them.

No I do not currently volunteer
No its not, where does it say in the publicity that there will be morons who feel the need to cream their jeans because they are in the front windows behind a "beast" of a loco. Ive been to many Galas and thought these idiotic prats were becoming a thing of the past.I never sit down when at Galas as I enjoy being at a window to hear the loco.I dont flail,I do video from the window but dont lean out as far as some of these flailers. They do it at Galas because its been jumped on on main-line railtours and it should be on preserved lines.
another thing I dont particulary like is those who take their own headboards to a Gala with XYZ on tour, or something equally stupid on. If the loco owner has his/her own board then fair enough but these stupid ones put on just so the children can see it in everybodys pics taken that day spoil it to a degree for me.

Rant over, just hydraulics for me please...........

I've always liked the Carry on Cladding headboard myself. Just a bit of fun that never done anyone any harm and adds interest to the event.

main reason I dont like it if say it where a 1960s themed gala for example, looks silly if your wanting a nice photo.

as my dad always says, its not a cattle truck, get ya head in :)

I do kind of get it, or Im trying to see the other side, it was before my time when it was popular in the 80s,but Ive seen enough class 40 vids to smile at it.

but I think on a preserved railway where there are families (which preserved railways care a lot about) Image wise it looks a bit silly.

do we know any lady flailers?

I think there was a lady flailer who specialised in Class 50s. Vaguely remember seeing her once or twice on Waterloo to Exeters and a NYMR gala where 50027 was in action. But that's a long time ago. Flailing is a bit too much like a Nazi salute for me to be comfortable with. Heads out of windows, yes, video cameras, yes; flailing, probably not, thank you.
No steam at Diesel Galas (lovely at all other times), and loco rosters must be publicised in advance. There is little that is more annoying than travelling a long way to discover that the loco that you are particularly interested in has just run in from the other end, and won't move again until nearly bed time.
