    Fabulous weekend photographing 60163 in very challenging weather conditions. Arrived at 9.30 to find torrential rain and gale force winds. Thankfully the rain moved off and the clouds peeled back to bring some welcome sunshine just a shame the wind did not ease.

    I have often wondered how close 60009 was to being at its maximum output on parts of that climb. While it was working over the period when the run took place you could feel something outstanding was going to happen, it was just a case of when. And I booked on the wrong trip.
    I don't believe anything has beaten it since and if it ever did I wouldn't put it beyond the "Union" to get the record back. This assumes, of course, that the speed limits on the route are agreeable once more.

    No.9 was and still performed great,just look how it did on the Coronation.....

    Although there is only one man who would probably know whether it could do the record! The record is a very difficult thing to attain!
