The missus and I were catching the 9:00am train from York down to Kings Cross and 44871 was only just reversing it's train down into Platform 10 at around 9:15am when our own train left late. So it would've have been well late leaving from the start as it was due to depart York at 9:00am.

Always wanted to get a silloette on Ribblehead and thought this might be the last chance this year . Alas the sun was behind clouds and no clag going over the viaduct but it shows off it majesty and dwarfs the engine & train which is also dwarfed by the scenery around.
Running on time here on its return, Even held a service train coming up from settle to let it pass over the viaduct first.

Just to say that I had the most wonderful day out on the Waverley on the 5th September. Despite being late on the outbound journey, it matters little when you are on the train rather than waiting for the train.
Full marks to all the crew as well. 44871 wasn't bad either!! Faultless performance all the way. What a load of hard work watering from the hydrant is at Hellifield on the way up. Countless hoses had to be used. And what a place Carlisle Station is. Could have spent even longer there!
Will post some pictures and film when I get a bit more time.

Apparently 44871 was sent down a different siding in York to the one that the stock was sat in thus causing the delay!!
