Im also booked on the wensleydale tour good set of loco double heading to york which way round though 35018 on front
and 48151 attached on carriage set or vice versa if so the 8F could be tailing from york or if not B.I.L. on rear and 8F front anyhow its steam both ways and water at gasgoine wood or york and leyburn, half an hour at leyburn i wouldent be too sure if its adequate time to have a very quick stroll up to leyburn:) davo 56F

First of all. Moderator's hat off. Secondly, I know I am going to get grief for this post so I'm apologising in advance to @Davo......but, as this is not the first time it has happened....

86 words in one sentence. No punctuation. No capitals where needed but spelling checked, it seems. Does it matter? Probably not although why bother posting anything if you can't be bothered to post it in a way that would encourage others to read it?

I too despair sometimes at the James Joyce "stream of consciousness" style of texts I often receive from (much) younger persons. I know however that they laugh at my archaic grammar, punctuation etc, and maybe my education may have been a bit different? I realise that my "normal" is vastly different to theirs, a bit like our hobby possibly with the many debates it spawns here and elsewhere. I would that things were different but they are not, so perhaps "plus ca change, plus c'est la même chose" ? I for one would not want to discourage an obvious enthusiast from contributing, no matter how difficult the interpretation is sometimes. Keep the posts coming Davo, no matter how annoying to old "grumps" such as me.

Punctuation may be archaic, but most of us know what errors can be made in meanings if punctuations is wrong or missing, the panda one being a classic.
Eats shoots and sleeps. A comma changes the meaning completely.

Fair points made above, but please don't let this put you off posting @Davo, your passion for the hobby like the rest of us is evident in your posts.

I believe you'll find it's normally "Eats shoots and leaves"

I had considered going on this tour but they axed the boarding point in Leeds so it didn't seem like much to do around 1-2 hour journey from York with engines just in top n tailed formation as I wanted to be on for the double header. A shame about neither of the jubes being available but it will be good for the merchant navy as don't forget she did double head with Mayflower in Feb. That trip in particular I was also onboard so I've already had southern motive power for haulage this year.:p

Unsure what's happened with Leander as last I believe it was out was for the WCME and she was stopped in Bolton with TPWS issues and Galatea last I saw her had a badly leaking tender tank and she on a number of occasions had injector issues (including on the final Fellsman where she stopped just after Ais Gill, was on that tour so witnessed the event). Issue is without either when BIL goes down south and the 8F's ticket runs out what will be available for the Scarborough Spa's and trains which need an engine from Carnforth.

I hope this has better luck than the trip from Newcastle, Morpeth, Stockton, Darlington to Wensleydale a few years back with a dodgy WCR 47 and Great Marquess. We got as far as Constable Burton loop and had to stay there while the service train came back from Redmire. Then we returned to Leeming Bar to top up GM before setting off back to Newcastle. At least we had about 1 hour in Darlington at lunch time. A day out it was, and great steaming behind GM on ECML back to Newcastle, but not much else!
Half an hour from station to Leyburn village? Pushing it for an uphill walk and to do anything useful there, unless you are fit!!

The TPWS 'issue' was I believe a power supply problem which was fixed at Hellifield.
Sat 15th June BIL takes the Scarborough Flyer from York to London, then stays there to do some trips for RTC.
    Scarborough Spas, ?6201?

I had a feeling that the jube was having major work done, last I saw her she was looking very poorly. Tender tank was leaking in multiple places resulting in the paint bubling away and the injectors on a few occasions caused problems for footplate crews as they would stop working (with the final Fellsman last year it happened just after Ais Gill and an emergency stop had to be done, witnessed that incident myself).

If that is booked to work the trains I will without a doubt be booking a ticket on a few runs, either that or Bahamas on the trains.

I agree completely - there have been many times over the past month when I nearly said the same - mainly about postings on the CVR thread.
