Did the stop at Watford get made on the return?

No, but I did nearly get hit by a startled pheasant who decided to fly towards me rather than away!

My own attempt from a sunny Hairdrigg yesterday morning.

When travelling down on the train from Edinburgh, the Lune Gorge was actually in spectacular light with some low hanging mist. By the time we got back up there from Lancaster, the fog was so thick I'd be surprised if you could see one end of the railtour from the other!

So I'm happy with this. Bright sun, dark clouds, and a lovely sounding Duchess!

Nice shots John. I've always found it very tight from Ais Gill to Hellifield Green too. Needs everything in your favour without taking too many risks!

I assume from lack of replies that it didn't stop. Let's hope this just a one-off.

A grand day out yesterday. The main figures have already been given, but some further ones, courtesy of Linesider Senior, are below:

    Burton 61
    Oxenholme 51
    Grayrigg 40
    Lowgill 60
    Tebay 71
    Scout Green 50
    Shap Summit 37

    Armathwaite 50
    Griseburn 35
    Birkett 38
    Angerholme 34
    Ais Gill 30
    Dent Head 49

Not the greatest of performances, especially over the S&C, but certainly not bad, with plenty of noise from the front. Whilst the run up the WCML was very good, it really did serve to underline just how good number 9s were in 2013 - 54 mph over Grayrigg and 41 mph over Shap on the 9th Feb run, for example.

    Thanks Ralph, I've passed on your kind comments to Pam. My video from the same locations, which doesn't work as well as the stills, now up;

Here's some on-board footage, showing the climb of Grayrigg.
