Being driven much harder on Grayrigg than at Griseburn, but cylinder drain cocks stuck open on Grayrigg?

Anybody know who the crews were?

One if the best. Anybody have any details such as overall Carnforth to Carlisle time and minimum speeds over Grayrigg and Shap?

Agreed about SC. Now that it seems Gordon is less in evidence we have to look to a few other WC drivers who seem able to get the best out of their charges without causing the loco owners too much stress. Now is not really the time to go into any hall of fame as their job is to time the train and I'm sure all can do that. But, just as when steam was everywhere, you get to sense those who will do what's needed compared with those who get a little bit extra out of their locos and produce the memorable moments. Judging by RTT, today northbound was one of them.

    Shap summit was approx 35mph.

Was a good run both directions. Is the Duchess still only running at 60mph as speeds didn't seem to go much above that anywhere on the northbound run.

Wasn't timing that seriously by we topped Yealand Bank at just over 38; Milnthorpe 66; Oxenholme 53; Grayrigg Summit 45; Tebay 67; Shap Summit just under 33, at MP 37 1/4 not the summit board at 37 1/2; Penrith 69; MP 63 79. Got to 63 at Armathwaite on the return; 61 at Lazonby. Appleby to Ais Gill (259 3/4 not the summit board) 26 mins 4 and a bit seconds, speed at 259 3/4 was 46. Wilpshire was a bit subdued and topped at 22.
