    I’m not sure if 205205 is still up for sale? But I found this on WNXX the other day. Reading this post I dont think a individual or group can buy this unit.

    There may be a (legal) problem here....

    When Porterbrook disposed of these units, they were not offered to 'groups' or 'individuals', only recognised railways that could accept the asbestos liability. That liability cannot be passed on (my understanding) and will preclude any sale to individuals or groups. Furthermore, any deterioration of the bodywork which may expose asbestos is not allowed under the terms of the sale so the NYMR had better watch out if that unit is rotting away in a siding as someone may grass them up to the HSE (and also if the unit is sold on to an individual or group).

    Many railways thought they were being smart in getting a demu at a £1 per vehicle under that arrangement, but how many didn't either read or understand the small print and will live to regret it in the future?
    You may be stuck with an expensive disposal problem in the future.
    (Not forgetting the idiots at one railway who sold the centre vehicle from their unit to a nursery school for the kids to play in; the transaction is being investigated by the HSE right now).

    This has just been cleared up on WNXX;

    "There is exemption between preservation groups, this rule only applys to TOC's to TOC's and TOC's to preservation"
