That is very sad news. Always liked a chat with Tony, whether at Llanberis all those years ago, or at Pant, he will be missed. Vale Tony.

    Cheers,

    Alan

This is sad, I once had a long chat with him about Baldwin locos and the project to build a new LYN for the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway, he will be missed, I just hope some one picks up the pieces and finishes the two new Baldwin loco in his honor.

I visited on New Years Eve - chatting to the friendly staff there is an effort to get the US loco projects completed - looked impressive in the workshops.

The railway is a great legacy to him - travelling last Thursday - on the balcony behind the Baldwin on the steep climb to Torpantau was one of my 2015 steam highlights. As I say the line and stock is a great legacy he has left.

The great British railway journeys tv programme by Michael Portillo featured The Brecon Mountain Railway and Tony Hills this evening. I am sure it will be repeated soon and of course there is the 'catch up' facility of 'Yesterday tv'.
