To be honest I would rather wait for official news, that second hand rhetoric, that FB seems to be the king of breeding.

As for not being open and transparent, do me a favour, do you complain as much at the lack of info from other operators, or is it just a seeming cheap shot????

I think he/she is getting the reaction they set out to achieve.

To quote a friend of mine who popped into Wansford earlier, "doesn't look like she's in steam today".

Especially as it's a diesel running day today ;) (down here at the moment, late lunch).

Plenty of time to accumulate miles between now and the 25th.

Diesel day or not, she could have accrued some mileage by working round the service trains.
Would probably have needed a bobby at Orton Mere though.

It not having covers on the RH cylinder might have something to do with it not being in steam. I noticed one or two familiar faces from the A1 Trust alongside it too.

I suspect it could be running - just because folk are around a coverless cylinder doesn't mean to say the news is bad: it could equally be "problem's sorted, wrap this up and off we go."

Technically speaking, what stops the NVR being run OEIS?

Not studied the rule book regarding that aspect but they need a bobby at Wansford for the gates at least even if it’s a one train service.

Mmm, I took that as a given - assuming the crossing at Overton is automatic and the run-round at Peterborough can be worked via a ground frame or from the cabin?

Well, even if it doesn't make the 29th, who's to say it won't make the 7th?

I don't think Mr Grey has set out to achieve a reaction, maybe he knows more than what is being let on?

The Nene Valley are saying the event is doubtful and are asking people to check on Friday before traveling.

So why has that taken two pages and a dozen posts to get to that bit of information?

If you already knew that, then say that.

The manner in which you’ve approached this seems remarkably petty.

We have a stall booked at the NVR event and as of this afternoon we were told to assume that it’s going ahead. Things can change at short notice though.

Post on A1ST Facebook page saying UKR have contacted/are contacting passengers and Ynys Mon and Auld Reekie both postponed until next year.

    Auld Reekie?

Get in the Anderson Shelters, folks - fallout liable to be blowing in from Dewsbury...

    HOWEVER -

    https://www.a1steam.com/2018/09/20/tornado-repair-update-3/

The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust is pleased to report that No. 60163 Tornado has successfully completed approximately 50 miles of post-repairs running-in on the Nene Valley Railway (NVR). This was followed by a detailed examination of the locomotive, as a result of which we will be undertaking a number of further checks and making some adjustments. As a consequence, Tornado has not been operating on the NVR but it is anticipated that it will be operating on Friday 21st September. The locomotive is then scheduled to haul passenger trains at the Nene Valley Railway’s ‘Tornado at Ten’ event on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September as part of completing preparations for main line running.

    THE YNYS MON EXPRESS POSTPONED

We are sorry to have to advise you that ‘The Ynys Mon Express’ excursion train to North Wales will not now be operating on Saturday 29 September.

The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust has advised us that further rectification work, re-validation and another test run are all going to be necessary before 60163 ‘Tornado’ can operate on the main line again. Regrettably this work cannot be completed until October. As there is no other suitable substitute steam loco available on this date the tour has had to be postponed.

THE NEW DATE FOR THE YNYS MON EXPRESS IS SATURDAY 4 MAY 2019. All details remain the same, along with the off-train options at destination. All fares will remain at their 2018 levels. An added benefit is that this is the date of the Grand Victorian Extravaganza in Llandudno.

Part of the email I received from Uk Railtours today. I also believe @Victor's Auld Reekie tour is postponed too. I think the Laphroiag might be taking a beating today.;) :)
