I was at the NRM on Friday and not expecting to see Tornado - but there she was in the car park in light steam and looking magnificent! Despite a decent number of people at the museum there were no more than 2 or 3 people around Tornado at any one time which gave a great opportunity to appreciate the locomotive in a bit of peace! Wonderful to see her (never seen Tornado before) and looks great in her new colour.

(Incidentally Bittern/Dominion of New Zealand was just visible as well - wow does she look good!)

Has anyone seen any times for 60163 on Wednesday?

The A1 Trust's website suggests that more than one run will be made?

    Thanks in advance. Si.

Very nice video. Really liking the Brunswick Tornado. What are the 2 coaches behind the loco. I think the second one is the support coach but don't know what the other is. It's not 4492's as thats umber and cream.

Now that, is looking tasty. Putting aside all the faff over the recent repairs and tiff with the WCRC, the loco itself is looking superb. If I don't see her before, I am seriously looking forward to SVR Autumn gala now :D

Just looked on the A1 Trust's website Photo Gallery one of the pictures says her 2 support coaches. I know that one is the Thompson B1 Locomotive Trust's that 60163 has been using since entering service. I also know that the A1 Trust have their own thats being worked on in Darlington although updates on that have been quiet for a while but had been painted Carmine and Cream.

Any idea who the other support coach belongs to.

EDIT: Having seen a video the support I can't identify is the one being used on the test run.

Reported 114 minutes late at Seamer. It past there at 15.08 according to computer system.

I wonder if the 2nd run will happen? Anyone know?

E&C reported to have left York for Scarbro about 1700; just the one coach.

One presumes that the test runs have been a success - from the way they simply turned the loco at York and belted straight back to the coast.

She'll do nicely now - and put all those "I don't like it" toss pots right in their place!

From the latest issue of The Tornado Telegraph:

Interim Support Coach – Due to the continuing refurbishment of our BR Mark 1 BCK E21249 at Darlington Locomotive Works and the need to return our temporary support coach to its owners, the Trust have hired BCK 21268 (built at Derby in 1962) to plug the gap.

Rather an insulting and obscene comment directed at those of us whose steam locomotive preferences are elsewhere.

I don't like non steam loco forms of traction, but I don't go around making obscene comments against those who do. Neither do I make obscene comments against those who support classes of steam locos I am not that interested in.
