Oooh! The Devon banks with 10 on, she might even make a bit of noise!

Further to Alexa's comment about the progress of winter maintenance, there is an update on the A1SLT website.

Have always wondered - before getting the new liners in, how do you get the old ones out?

Hard graft! Used to involve cutting a lengthwise slot in the liner with a hammer and chisel. An angle grinder makes it much easier these days.

I'm surprised that new liners are required after 60K miles although I think that they were re-bored due to scoring a while ago. Has this occurred again?

Maybe they keep tight to tolerances to prevent any considerable wear and tear of the rest of the motion, pistons, crossheads, slidebars, crank pins and hornguides?

Looks as though Tornado is back in one piece… has been lightly simmering (technical judgement based on flying past on an HST) outside Southall for the last few days…

My video from the Cathedrals Express is now online, captured at Bishopsteignton, Broadsands, Torre and Tiverton Parkway. The link is below.

Credit must go to the crew for getting 60163 back in action in just over an hour yesterday after the incident at Slough.

Any idea what did cause the incident at Slough yesterday? I've read somewhere that it was a fault with the Air brakes. Anybody else able to shed any more light on the problem?

Reported on WNXX, that a broken air pipe caused the problem, good effort to repair it as quickly.

Latest issue of Heritage Railway reports that 60163 will be making an additional visit to the MHR in August for the use of Ropley's wheel- drop as she couldn't go to the Bluebell. She was due to arrive at Ropley at the end of July. Couldn't find any E+C move timings. Has she arrived yet? Or is she stuck due to the fire risk problems both on the ML and on the MHR?
