The A1 trust is between a rock, and a hard place on this one,the only way forward now, would be a limited agreement with VT, who they were due to use, but then turned to WC instead, with occasional preserved line visits, or they could still use DB,and eastern coach services if DB are interested in a few trips using Flying Scotsman, and Tornado, which might, if DB want to operate trips again, other than the Belmont trips with the British Pulman, Has Belmont ever ran an Pulman tour to York ? or beyond ? are there enough people, or well healed tourists, who would be the likely market for a Pulman grand tour ?

Belmond has run a Diesel hauled trip to York this year so it could be possible next year if they did it again to use Tornado or Flying Scotsman on it as they now have access to them which they didn't at the time so it's very possible.

Edit. They are doing one trip to York in March 2026 currently Diesel hauled, potential to change.

I suppose that If Tornado just happened to be visiting a railway in the south of England in March, As part of a Gala, and needed to be worked back, it could work to Stewarts lane, then be available for a Belmont tour to York, and if Scotsman, Just happened to be at the NRM,a few days later, it could work a " Yorkshire pullman," over The S&C, before the tour returns to London Deisel Hauled, of cause, it would be beyond the price range of many of us on here, but I can see a lot of potential on the tourist market for that, with hotels included,

In days of old when Belmond was VSOE I believe York was a destination, a work colleague got a mammoth discount on a tour as it ended up with diesel. Not sure it would be doable now with two trips along the NLL and probably at least one way via Lincoln.

I suggest a look at the Belmond website for the trips they run - steam and diesel alike.

So what if Martin has got one letter wrong? FYI my AI autocorrect wants to put Belmont instead of Belmond.

You might have been admonished, but don't stop correcting errors.

We all make mistakes and, in many cases, it is sensible to correct them, other than perhaps with grammar and spelling (Bulleid, Hosking, Belmond and other names excepted.) I often hit the wrong key and don't realise, even when reading it back. It's the way that this is done that's important, though.

Grammar can be important for sense:
"Helping your grandad jack off a horse"
    And
"Helping your grandad, Jack, off a horse"
have somewhat different connotations. Names, less so (unless there was another company of such name).
In a conversation between the most famous CME of the LMS and an individual in the dying trade, spelling would matter.

I leave it unless material to the sense of the post or other material reason to do so.

Thanks for your concern on behalf of someone else. Sometimes there is no other way to politely say some things but it's all been noted.

Meanwhile, on Tornado, whilst it is great that the NYMR will benefit from it as a visitor, what a waste of a main line resource with the kit that few other main line steam locos have and in one particular respect, something no other loco has.

And that is exactly what happened, it auto corrected, and I assumed I had spelt it incorrectly to start with, but, hey ho, i'm now at the point where, i just don't care, and i'm more active now on another site, than i am on here, and at least i don't get half the trouble on there, so its clearly not me,

Anyway, back to Tornado, is there any likelihood that Belmond can increase the amount of steam it used on its tour programmes, if Tornado, and Flying Scotsman were to become available for limited use, without taking any work off of Clan line,

Rail forums its a lot better structured, and has far better sub forums, including one where you can be speculative, and people do actually debate things, its mostly modern stuff, but does have a preserved section, and a lot of very well informed people in the industry seem to post, unlike on here, where they tend to get shouted down, of note is the west of England discussion, and the problems the lines facing, people who know the route and the bottle necks, have all contributed, and everything seems much calmer,
