Trawsfynydd and Blaenau Ffestiniog Railway

Discussion in 'Heritage Railways & Centres in the UK' started by WickhamofWare, Aug 21, 2009.

Given that I believe this is the 2HAP purchased by Andrew Briddon, I suspect he won't thank you for calling his operation a 'scrapyard', even a 'specialised' one.

A “facility to support the design” sounds to me like spin for a new office block with some physicists in it.

If physicists have spin, can only one be in a given state in the office at the same time?

Surely some of the £30m for supply chain could be used for the railway, though that figure is for U.K. Wide investment so not that much.

You can have two with the same spin, but only if they inhabit different levels within the building...

The BBC have updated their page. The earlier versions stated that there would be new reactors on site, and the infrastructure to connect to National Grid was still in place.

Meanwhile, according to the local news column in the latest FfR Magazine, "there are reports of start-up capital of £1,500,000 having been secured for infrastructure works and plans for six new stations and halts" on the Trawsfynydd-Blaenau line.

The origin of this £1.5million start-up capital was an article in the Daily Post:

    https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/what-railway-enthusiasts-store-disused-14588398

The problem is, the source of the quote is Colin Dale and therefore, like just about everything else he says, it is complete fiction.

newspaper report is fairly damning, they made it clear that the project is a no-hoper

I've pretty much put any chance of a T&BF revival firmly in the "not happening" file, where it'll remain unless anything significant occurs.

Has any mention be made of the proposed pocket nuclear power station using the branch?

Absolute tosh! Apart from a possible halt in the BF suburbs (!!!!!!!!:)) the only reasonably populated village enroute to Trawsfynydd is Llan Ffestiniog, not exactly very big and I can't see much possibility of new housing there . I guess you would have a halt at the lakeside and that's it.

He's one of those people that will continue to exist as long as people give him the oxygen of publicity. A bit like Boris Johnson.

Blaenau Rail has just made the following announcement on it's Facebook page:

"It is with great sadness we have to report Colin Dale passed away yesterday."
