The planets finally aligned and after all the trials and tribulations of the the last 12 months Tulyar was reunited with bogies. A massive step forward in the restoration.

 

I believe a shiny glossy nose is a sign of robust health for a dog, let's hope the same applies to Deltics.

 

Especially if they don't cover it in yellow paint.

 

Further news is engines are going in 11/12th September 2023.

Where are you seeing this? I keep looking at the new site and whilst it's very pretty, I can't find news updates like I used to - unless its on FB of course, which I won't use.

Yesterday saw the start button pressed on both engines, and they span over as expected.

Next week looks to be the time, when a big can of brake cleaner is sprayed into the air intakes, and we hold our breath.

They'll start, I'll put a shilling wager on it. But be sparing with those aerosols, engines become 'addicted' to the stuff, and they 'knock' like hell when they fire (just give 'em a whiff).
Me? I'd try 'em first WITHOUT the Easy Start and if they don't eventually fire, .........give 'em a whiff.
As an aside........... if Easy Start is not available a burning rolled up newspaper held at the air intake works well. Not a lot of people know that.

 

Why do Deltic engines need brake cleaner or Easy Start to start up?
It sounds like something is wrong if they need it.

 

Too many YouTube videos of people emptying cans of ether and the like into intakes making people think it's a necessity? Agree with you, they shouldn't need it.
