Not missing the point at all. It seems that it's you drawing the wrong conclusions.

I say bravo to the NRM for wanting to celebrate this event. Some people on here may say the cost of bring both A4s back home could be more wisely spent. I think some people on here are forgetting how popular these locos are and having all of them together could generate enough income to easily cover the transporting cost from the USA and Canada.

I doubt we are. Looking forward to seeing six A4s and as for the "Bah Humbug" brigade, your absence will mean more places for the Gresley faithful. :)

It's obvious really that you are a Gresley fan with a user name like Spamcan...

Why not - Bulleid was Gresley's junior and kept under tight rein whilst on LNER books; it was only when the SR gave him a free hand that the eccentricities began.

Gresleys trained him well... After all we had the W1 and the P2 before the WC pacific... Maybe malachite green on a A1 isn't so far fetched after all. :)

Born, bred and lived all my life within spitting distance of the GN so a Gresley man through and through. As for the Spamcan thing, when I decided it was time to put something back into preservation all the A4s had been preserved so a Spamcan was the next best thing. Anyone for an A4 new build, 2509? :)

Would be a good time to announce one, there's a spare A4 boiler and reusable tender out there... Fashionable too there's more new builds last year than Hornby and Bachmann together in 2011 :)
    ( I am joking)

I'm up for it - but only if we can do it to latest best practices - maybe it's the only way to get the 5AT built - use the technology but cover it in a pretty frock ;)

Be a bit different and create your 5AT dressed as a B17/5? :)

For the official story of the return of the A4's the new issue of The Railway Magazine (out Wednesday) is a highly recommended read. The main article is written by Steve Davies. It mentions that both The Railway Magazine and Heritage Railway are now supporting the event. "Canada" is going into LNER Blue as mentioned before and 60008 is having a cosmetic overhaul on her BR livery. Both loco's will be coming into Liverpool Docks. I won't say too much on here.........

So they will probably be arriving on trailers on one of A.C.L.'s ro-ro's. I'll have to have a look at the sailing schedules & hopefully get a few snaps when they're unloaded.

Any chance of doing-up 60008 in her original guise as LNER 4496 'Golden Shuttle'? I'll overlook the double chimney.

A pity they can't have a quick lineup before the cosmetic restorations.

After all, will be the only chance we have to see 60007, 60008, 60009 & 60010 all lined up together in BR liveries.... but of course one has a battered front.
