Can't see what all the fuss is about. By the looks there is nothing a couple of cleaners with some Turtlewax, a bucket of cottonwaste, a bit of oil and some ScotchBright can't fix in half a days work :-?

Not my video, but noted Canadian Railfan David Othen caught Dwight D arriving in Halifax yesterday.

I was lucky enough to see Dominion of Canada out in the sun and being shunted to get lubrication into the motion on Saturday when i was at Exporail. I have lots of pictures and videos, but can't post them on the lousy hotel internet access so it will be Wednesday when i am home before they go online.

As i said, 60010 is still in Montreal at Exporail (I saw her on Saturday). My understanding is the same flatcars used to ship Dwight D from Green Bay will go back to Montreal to pick up Dominion of Canada after Dwight D is unloaded in Halifax and the pair will travel the Atlantic together. Not sure the exact schedule, but the date I've seen is they are booked on a ship due in Liverpool Sept 9.

Normal size for freights these days out here -- regularly load out to 10 to 12 ,000ft , especially with containers on board . good to see the A4 making progress.

Just out of curiosity, do both no.8 and no.10 have corridor tenders?

Well, I suppose they do have more room over there than we have. When you see the A4 and its tender chained onto
that freight and compare sizes, our railway system in the UK must look like a toy train set to the guys across the 'pond'!

ridiculously very restrictive and cramped UK loading gauge alas!alas! (the millstone of the british railways since the 1830's!) more for a submetric system than for a standard one!
    regards

Was brought up in the Uk , so it was normal , but it takes a bit of getting used to now I live here - admittedly more space to run things - 170 car potash , 130 car coal , plus the extended length doublestack container trains - makes for good train watching , as long as your not stopped at a level crossing --lol

If you really want to get close to the action, head to jack London square in Oakland (BART metro from San francisco)..The freight train goes right through the main street!!

Not sure about 60010 but 60008's is a non corridor tender and only found out after seeing the pictures of her in transit. I thought she had a corridor one.
