cracking if rather hot afternoon at Tyseley

4936 looks fantastic and 7752 in LT livery just gorgeous

Great selection of stalls this time and the canopy by the museum was a masterstroke . Things this year seemed really well laid out .

Lots of continous action to keep everyone entertained and the Western out as well was great

Thanks to all at Tyseley for a brilliant afternoon and Ben (of 5029 fame) for not minding my two little ones on the footplate of 5029

Well, after a busy, action packed, cameo crammed day on Saturday at the Tyseley Locomotive Works Open Weekend here are the results! This year's event included the relaunch of a locomotive, short rides, vintage train travel and the oportunity to tour the workshops. It is me, or did this year's event seem far less crowded than it has sometimes been? It was most interesting to see L94 being recommissioned and, of course, the marvelous little displays on the shuttle trains! A super event & thanks to everyone who put so much time and effort into making the whole thing happen. You may (or may not) be interested in a few little 'souvenirs' of the event that I have produced:

It was a shame that the rail compamies didn't see fit to stop a few more trains at Tysley station on the Sunday - onlythe hourly service to stratford semed stopped there which made getting there by rail difficult if not impossible.

    Didn't stop at Tysley.

No Sunday service on that line stopping at Tyseley.
Foolishly I didn't check but I parked at Solihull having dropped off my son at uni and just caught a train thinking it would stop - went straight through to Moor St where I discovered that there was only an hourly service on the Stratford line that stopped at Tyseley

Gave it up as a bad job..

my fault I admit for not checking

One of the half-hourly Chiltern services each hour were stopping at Tyseley both days. I know because I used them!

More Tyseley steam photos can be seen here, including the Bloomer replica and the Sharp Stewart 4-8-0 from South Africa:

Did you look at the special timetable for that weekend? Go to the chiltern website under "changes to train times" and then you can click the date on the calendar. Chiltern usually stop when there are Tyseley events on - at least you know for next time now.
