Yes it has before - photos of it earlier in this thread.

But if you are one of those increasingly detested 'b....y spotters' or someone with an interest in coaching stock/wagons then you are missing quite a lot.

Ah see where your coming from, most of the stock would be on the ramp leading up to the coal stage rather than in it, there's a set of steps behind the main workshop that lead up to the coal stage ramp area without going in the actual shed, though whether these are out of bounds or not is another matter.

Yes, precisely and you get some good views and photographic opportunities of not only the shuttles but the site and adjacent DMU depot from up there.

Back in the 'good old days' of the 1990's access was allowed to the ramp as David says. Also it was allowed through the door leading off the viewing gallery in the workshop leading to the buffer end of the coaling stage (allowing rolling stock located their to be viewed) and a route was laid out through the coaling stage workshop (to view what rolling stock it contained) to the ramp area. Access was permitted to the rolling stock on the ramp but no further in the direction of the mainline which was understandable.

Advertise and allow that sort of access on Sunday and I suspect mine would not be the only extra tenner you would get in the coffers.

In June for example the 'b...y spotters' were deprived of viewing half the Vintage Trains set including Pullman Car PEGASUS in the DMU depot sidings next to the ramp and on the ramp itself the Bubble Car DMU's , Pullman Car EAGLE (on loan from the NRM) and the various interesting carriages and wagons (although which is unclear as neither the Tyseley or VCT websites are up to date presumably because no one has had the opportunity to check what is present) not to mention Pannier Tank 7760 presumed to be inside.

It is not even made clear whether the £40 preview trips will allow access to all the rolling stock on the ramp.

If access to the ramp and associated areas is never going to be possible on Open Days has any thought been given to guided tours of this area on open days (similar to the Chinnor yard tours on recent weekends) aimed at the 'b....y spotters' for say an extra few bob or site tours for 'b....y spotters' at a tenner a time on nominated dates/times that allow all rolling stock to be viewed?

They are doing an access all areas (or at least a lot more) on the Saturday for a bargain £40 including lunch and footplate ride on Furness 20. It was on Facebook but I now can't find it so maybe it is sold out

They are indeed but the small print does not make clear whether it will be possible to view at leisure all the rolling stock on site and it is by invitation only so I suspect 'b....y spotters' might not be invited. It should also be remembered that £40 is just not affordable for many enthusiasts, £10 is a lot for many. A version with out rides, foods and lectures but with access to all rolling stock at a realistic price might be more appealing to many.

A thoroughly enjoyable day at Tyseley again last Sunday.
Well done to all the stewards and footplate crews.
The day started in bright sunshine under a blue sky but it didn't last long before the heavens opened with a couple of particularly heavy showers that dispersed many of the "Groupon" offer family visitors fairly quickly.
I did feel sorry for the crew on board Furness no.20 though as it poured down just as their loco began its spell hauling the shuttle service. NB. It has an open cab! I expected the top hats the guys were wearing to disintegrate into a soggy mess of papier mache.
