Yes, I can confirm that 2253 is currently up for sale - there is a spare boiler also, currently stored at Bury I believe.

Anyone interested please contact Bryan Draper, the NYMR Trust Secretary - care of 12 Park Street, Pickering or PM me for details.

You are probably quite right but it certainly caught me out when I was allowed to have a go on one of its first test runs; the regulator was stiff and the rod across the backhead seemed to be rather springy!! Only pulling our Class 47 as load/airbrake compressor but got an almighty slip leaving Llan station :)

Don't know why but I would love to see 2253 running again, Never seen her myself, she does look sad in the back of the yard at Grosmont, I took a few photo's of her on saturday, the first I think sums it up for her best at the moment.

It's such a shame that this compleat loco is just ignored, especially if the only reasion for doing so is it does say BR on it (or big 4 as a consolation). Apart from neglect (which is bad enough) was there anything actually wrong with her other that end of ticket when she was parked up?

Having once again seen the 8F on the waverley bowling along as fast as its little legs are allowed to go, would one of these on the mainline get much work ?, Certainly a bit of Novelty appeal. Wheels arent any smaller, tender is nice and big...

given how large these engines are would one fit into the NR envalope for steam ,hight clearances might be an issue powerfull they might be, but they are very uncomfortable to ride on

but as a one off , one with a decent load behind it would sound nice as long as its got that natham chime fitted

Would be interesting to see how an s160 would perform on the Jacobites, they have a shorter wheelbase than an 8f so should be better suited to the line.
