Another bit of info from the VT chap I met today. Clun Castle is expected to do a test run around the Shakespeare circuit later this month. Must keep checking RTT, as I would love to see that.

My offering from Wilmcote, as 4965 powers toward Bearley Junction on the first of today's runs. Sun wasn't in the best place but it never is on this line! 4965.JPG

Let’s do what’s done best on Nat Pres... Speculate!

The fact it’s a 0Zxx would suggest diesel as opposed to steam. However, with an experienced driver such as Mr Churchill, it would be fair to assume that driver training (for the TOC) was satisfied with 4965’s outings the other day.

With the proximity of the first two outings followed by a 5Zxx run in the late evening and another run the following day, is it safe to assume these runs are 7029’s first outings onto the mainline under its current ticket?

Yes you can speculate, but the facts are all out there.

Class "0" is a light engine (s) or engine and brake van.
The second digit "Z" specifies that is a short tem planning special working....
Class "5" is empty coaching stock and can be any vehicles that are passenger rated rolling stock.
Note that no mention is made of the traction type, because it doesn't affect how a train is described or signalled.

Also 5Z76 & 5Z77 on 31st to and from Small Heath Lafarge Aggr
It looks (to me) like a combination of Light-engine and ECS test runs and crew-familliarisation. Good to see "TY" showing up regularaly in RTT :)

I agree. 30th October looks like light engine to/from Small Heath Lafarge Sidings although 0Z64 arrives at 1037 and 0Z65 departs at 1250, that's 2 hours in the sidings (mmm). 0Z66/0Z67 to/from Whitlocks End seem OK for light engine. Then ECS in the evening.
31st October is a repeat of the timings for Rood Ashton Hall's outings last week.

That suggests a quite different way of finding out what will happen in future.

Sorry! (But it might stop some NP speculation...)

Important for the future of heritage steam, Vintage Trains are forming a Youth Board to address succession:

Very good to see, if I was a bit closer I'd be seriously interested in something like that!

There are short light engine runs from Tyseley to Small Heath Lafarge then Whitlocks End on Tuesday 30th then a single run to Stratford and back via Henley in the evening; then two runs to Stratford via Henley (35mph), returning via Dorridge (75mph) on Wednesday 31st. Any idea on what the motive power on these dates is yet?

I’d hazard a guess that it’s 7029 as those timings scream light and loaded test runs to me ;)
