Thanks for the update David, I think I will try Newton for the first one then as it will be working through there after coming off the curve at Earlestown and it is also closer to the M62 for a dash over to somewhere near Diggle. Then Copy Pit and possibly Warrington.

Looks like Miles Platting is a likely spot then, not sure if an hour is enough to get from Acton Bridge to MP though with Saturday morning traffic. Then as you say Neil, Copy Pit. And to finish, south of Crewe to see the difference between 6201 and 5043 at the same spot.

Is it a track problem per say or 5043 being out of gauge via Stockport ?, not that im complaining about the diversion, means the mighty Earl gets to destroy Miles Platting too.

Revised times seem to have disappeared from UK Steam, or is it just me having a late night senior moment?

I'm told that they may be subject to further changes.

Looking at the times that were posted it seemed that there was a water stop missing on the reroute via Warrington.

Re- route to spec due to work at Heaton Norris Junction as we understand it, but more new ground for a Castle. Anyone ever heard of one going through Manchester Vic?

    Eh up!

Midge Hill is a classic, but arrive early, the best spot on the left of the bridge gets packed. Its a nice shot, if its sunny its to the left and as its in the cutting the sound should be awsome. I shot this in 2009, about 0930 i think. Its from the righthand side of the bridge, which gives a much longer approach.
Good spots on this line are at a premium, have a look through some of mine, done the good ones to death but its so twisty and tree lined ! Midge Hill or Ward lane Diggle are the best bets but will be busy.....good luck !

Yes, I noticed this morning that there is a piece of rail missing in one of the crossings that leads towards Denton.

All, we now have the confirmed times and route for this trip. For those passengers worried about tickets and times, they are in the first-class post tonight.

The re-route is due to engineering work, but I don't think anyone is going to be too upset that we have added Mils Platting and a chuff through Manchester Piccadilly on the outbound leg!

We are all looking forward to another leg in the “Earl of Mount Edgcumbe Hill-Climbing Tour”!
