Thanks for the info. Looks like an interesting variation. I note the way you phrased that: "The route applied for is..." At what point will you know whether the requested route is available? Do you have a Plan B?

Anyone noticed there's two Cornishmans within a few weeks of each other...
One with 5043 on reduced load, another with 5029 (no mention of load).
the weekend of the VT trip looks a good one to be around Bristol...

I woulden't call the max weight a Castle is allowed over the banks reduced!

Tyseley's words not mine..
(from website)>>>

My question is, what will the train hauled by 5029 consist of ?
From Bristol 5029 goes to Par, 5043 goes to Plymouth, £89 vs £90... going Premier makes a difference.. £165 vs £215, but if I'm boarding at Bristol.. in premier I'm missing out on quite a bit with VT I'd imagine, starting in Brum.

trying to decide which to book.

Will 5029 be reduced load or diesel assisted ?..
Going to Bodmin appeals to me with 5029, but if it's with diesel assistance it does not..
5043's trip has already said no diesel after Bristol... but it's not going to Bodmin.. there's also no times either, and possibly missing out on the feeding ! even if it's cheaper.

On last years trip with 5029, the load was 8 and no diesel.

5029 did the same trip[ Bristol - Par] on 10 July last year. Load was 8. There was no diesel and I cannot see one being attached this year as that would defeat the whole object of the trip unless I suppose there happens to be a fire risk at the time of running. Bear in mind though this years VT trip with 5043 originates in Birmingham albeit diesel hauled to Bristol but that mileage still has to be paid for. The RTC trip starts in Bristol. You pays your money and you make your choice!

8 is the Limit for an unassisted Single Chimney Castle on the route, whether the double on 5043 would allow a 9th im unsure of.

EVERY train on this route is reduced load if your using 12/13 as your benchmark, 8/9 is normal length on this run for a single loco.

Worth bearing in mind they might not be the final times as there is still two months before the tour runs.

The 5043 tour was originally down to go via Stockport but got diverted due to a track issue around there, personally i think the route via Manchester Victoria is a better choice, throwing an assault on Miles Platting in for good measure.

Even if they do get a run at it, rather than a dead stand at the bottom like everyone else.....

I'd rather the tour go through stockport... That means I can see it from a walking pace away!

Or I suppose, to bother stopping to pick up passengers, knowing full well that the climb would then be a different story.
