Yes, but the ACE should have used three steam locos (I know it only used 2 and one of those failed, but SD did offer compensation for this). Also, I note that passengers have to arrange their own accommodation, so they take the risk of losing the cost of that should the tour get cancelled.

Booking via ebookers or lastminute you can very often book with a no strings cancellation giving 24 hours notice.

So no run back down the East Coast ?, damn i was looking forward to running alongside the sea through Berwick and down through Newcastle, will still book it regardless for Beattock and the Forth Bridge but it's taken a bit of the icing off if true.

An interesting tour, but it really would have been the icing on the cake if it went up the WCML and down the ECML; it would have tidied up several trip options that I am planning on doing next year in one weekend (ie. Forth Circle, and I'd love to do a York-Edinburgh, for instance). Not too sure about the motive power, though ;) !

I understand that the proposed dates for this tour (26th to 28th May) coincide with the Edinburgh Marathon which could make finding accommodation in Edinburgh rather interesting.

I understand the dates might change, but it will not be the following week, since West Coast are providing trains for the Queens Diamond Jubilee.
Premier Inn rates for the 26th & 27th , for their 2 Central Hotels are £ 139.00 per night.

Bloody better not considering they have announced these dates and me and 5 others have already booked accomodation (at Edinburgh prices too it seems, would be cheaper to spend the night in the pub!), As it stands i won't have much change from £500 for this tour (and that's just me) so i dearly hope what you heard Paul is wrong as any major alteration may be remembered when considering booking future tours.

I have booked on this trip with two others, we've found that the Travel Lodge around the corner from the station is only 65.00 per night!

A fellow passenger on the trip to Carlisle on Saturday, was speaking to Mike Notley and I heard Mike say "might change" or "could change".
I hope the dates do not change, but will there be much hotel accommodation left(and at what prices) when the trip is open to people to book, who did not pay a deposit?

I sincerely hope the dates do not change, all my arrangements are in place and I guess those of many others as well. Changing at this late stage is not on. Hotel cancellations charges could cost people more money than changing to another [cheaper] date. There is hotel accommodation available in Edinburgh but admittedly it is not cheap.

I think Tyseley has there own train.

It is amazing that Tyseley has 2 multi-day tours using Beattock Pass in both directions within 7 months of each other by the way
