NGG16 Garratt 87 with its Lempor exhaulst is a very noisy beast, though many seem to dislike it.

Lempor exhausts are odd things sound wise. I've made recordings on Snowdon of both conventional and Lempor exhaust fitted locos and whilst they are both loud in their own way, the conventional exhaust has much more "oomph" to it IMO.

Good call re the Lambtons, there was a video on Youtube from the NYMR in 90s featuring Lambton No.5, Dame Vera Lynn, and others making enough noise to put everything else in the shade. But it seems that if it isn't in BR livery most enthusiasts aren't interested.

At last year's May gala, our USA tank went up Tenterden bank with such a noise that I have heard it was heard miles away! The modifications to that engine, combined with a load of 3 mk1's, made for a really good blast up the bank.
