It's hazy in Bristol at present but not as bad as yesterday. The haze is similar to what you would expect in July/August. <BJ>

Probably because the temperature is about what you'd get in July/August rather than a nice cool March temperature.

Could be tricky. Depends on the length of the train and the two bankers. That chap was very lucky that the whole consist slotted very nicely between the vegetation.
Anyway haze or no haze I doubt my lens is up to the Beacon Hill shot. I still reckon Pikes Pool is the grandstand view. Anyhow you could always just put the camera down and watch! :tongue1:

Looking forward to see the princess and 2 panniers climb the lickey.. Bringing the whole family to witnesses this very very rare oppurtunity.. The weather forecast looks decent..

Bromsgrove station is my location, I bet it will be packed out tomorrow evening.. Let's all hope the tour runs smoothly and in for a Glorious sound and sight of steam.

For those on the tour who're looking for something to do in the layover...

Don't forget that the Bristol Harbour Railway will be running steam services tomorrow, from alongside the SS Great Britain.

    Cheers,

    Phil.

What is the load? Last time, with Princess and 1 pannier, it was 9. With 2 bankers, it could be 11? More passengers as well.
9 on with Pacific and 2 bankers won't need much effort really.

If that's the trackside field just up from the bridge over Pikes Pool Lane where it seems that many photos were taken of the 2010 Lickey from in front of the trees on the field boundary, then from what I can make out there's no public footpath along that field boundary. The footpath goes a field width from the track. Does the landowner give "blanket" permission for people to watch from there? If it was in Scotland it wouldnt matter.
    Alan.

IIRC there is a footpath through the field with a style to get in along the road. The gallery line up against the trees were all standing in rough ground so its not as though we were trampling anything. In fact everyone was well behaved and no one would stand in the middle of the field anyway as the gallery were all lined up at the top.

Saw 6201 near Corston earlier this morning, pretty much bang on time.

At the Lickey field.... Busy already and plenty of cars already parked on the road! Any idea when the panniers head down the bank?
