I had somehow missed seeing the 26th September one, but I will probably be otherwise occupied that day too, so I'll look forward to one of next year's.

I look forward to this going past Kiddy in the morning. The booked time is not long before one of the Valley's departures.

4965 'Rood Ashton Hall' attempts to black out the Black Country as it passes Rood End with the 09:30 Tyseley - Hereford charter on Saturday 29 August 2015.

Running a fair bit late when I last checked RTT. 27 late at Maindee North Junction. Big brother Don is on board and tells me they lost some time in the general Brum area and then various checks. The 60 mph loco limit not helping either it seems now: I'm not sure if it's a 75 mph or 60 mph schedule, RTT indicates 60 mph. No doubt confirmation will come later.

Hopefully still a good day out for all on board including Don, I know he rates VT very highly. I've never had the chance of travelling with them: it would need a Merchant Navy out of Waterloo on a fast non stop schedule to Salisbury of Southampton!

Sorry this windows phone not easy to use. We had a lot of out of course checks which did not appear to be signals but 4965 was very good on the North & West route gaining 2 minutes to Hereford. 36.5 min Pontypool Road and 37 Llanfihangel. Load 9 incl water carrier about 350 tons. Ray Churchill and Alistair Meanley

My shots of Rood Ashton Hall's first solo run over The Welsh Marches in her preservation history. My locations were Eckington and Abergavenny.

Some very good hill climbing on the return run. Much solid thrash. Pity about the 60 limit. 9 early Wolverhampton

Nice video. Was that an old landrover that turned up in the background by any chance?

Love the second shot. In that did I catch a glimpse of Ben, with a white tea towel over his left arm, carrying a tray of vintage champagne in very elegant glasses in the 3rd coach from the front?

If so, I reckon that beats coffee served to tables adorned with crisp white tablecloths! LOL.

    ;)

Yes excellent throughout with the master at the regulator (Ray Churchill). Full report in the next HR set against a run with 6000 in 1972. Now who remembers that?

I did a north bound run about that time with 35028 in reverse direction. The 'Mayflower'. Maybe a year or so later perhaps.

Its good news that 4965 is going to get some decent coverage of its main line exploits in the next HR - the first, I think, since Mike Notley's review of a handful of August 2012 Shakespeare Express runs three years ago. Can't wait for the on-sale date of 24th September for that.

Less good news is that our local branch of WH Smug (Banbury) is apparently no longer stocking HR - something to do with a trimming of magazine display space and a culling of a number of titles to go with it. Anybody else aware of this in their locality?

The 1972 run with 6000 - wouldn't have been the one (LCGB) on 14th October of that year, perchance?

Edit.. Sorry, four minutes late with that question as I can now see from the most recent post
