Well Buseng, that's a point of view, but the funny thing is that not everyone shares points of view! As Kent Yeti has said you really do need to lighten up a bit, and really, as you have declared that you are not a passenger on VT, I can't quite see what business of yours this is anyway!

    Best Regards
    Bob

Yes I have to say that would be useful at times but I no longer want to stand for long periods anyway and prefer to use the methods discussed earlier, or to try to swap seats by discussion with fellow passengers or stewards. I was wrong side for mileposts on the N&W but have produced a detailed log by getting one good milepost reference point and by checking key distances on my gps. Would be more difficult on somewhere like Shap or Ais Gill though where there are fewer timing points apart from mileposts.

I don't remember that; when do you think it was?

I think pre 1965 as it was in the days when I was doing a lot of Waterloo-Woking runs on that wonderful old area rover ticket for 10 shillings and sixpence.

I wasn't on the train, I vaguely remember it as an emu on the local line. But I am fairly sure I was bashing steam that day. It really shook a few of us up.

Possibly best to leave it now and if needed pick it up on another thread where it can be more relevant.
