    Perhaps they are confusing it with the Corris carriage-building programme - we have three new bogie carriages at various stages of construction, two with clerestory roofs to match those on the line in the 1920s.

    I think they are just exhibiting the good old tabloid technique of boiling down news (in this case a factually correct press release) and then padding out what is left with extraneous "details". If only they could leave things alone!

    Actually the domed ends and line of ventilators along the roof combine to give a slight semblence of a clerestory but the roofs are of the plain arc variety.

    My thoughts on the replicas is that they look like specially prepared museum exhibits.

    Is that not a rather facile statement? Is there any replica of this ilk that would not fit into your particular sub-set?

    Far better to have the replicas than nothing at all.
