Well there's a report in our local paper, with a photo, saying she is on her way to Turkey. A great shame.

An arrest can be issued if the vessel is outside of territorial waters I believe

If the ship belonged to a trust & that trust fails, does the ship not have to be passed to another trust ?

If the "trust" is a registered charity then I believe the assets can only be disposed of to another registered charity. Ray.

Get UKIPs leader on board too, as it is an important ship to save, too many have been cut up, and effectively a floating museum, which could become a tourist attraction,if others could be saved too and all brought together in one place.
Remember going on this ship at Portsmouth navy days in the late 70s early 80s, with HMS Bulwark,Invincible which was brand new.

I think it is fair to say the last minute legal action has come to nothing - the old girl isn't coming back from where she is now!

I suppose the main aim now is to cost Peel Holdings at least as much as the scrap proceeds they plan to pocket from a destroying another part of the UK's maritime history by seizing a ship more or less given to a Charity by the Royal Navy.

if theres ongoing court action, can Peel legally scrap her?
Personally, speaking, nationally and locally they should be exposed as what they really are, asset strippers, they have a track record of saying one thing and then doing something else, look at what happened with Manxman, they let her decay to the point where she was beyond saying, then cashed in on selling momentos of her, and the proceeds from scapping her. if they are not the legal owners, then surely what they have done is theft

Peel's only involvement with the fate of 'Manxman' was to deny her a berth on the Mersey.
What they are guilty of is to let the last surviving tank landing craft from D-Day sink in Birkenhead docks & then just leaving her to rot.

I'm assuming Peel seized the vessel, as the charitable trust that owned it failed to quit when given notice and/or couldn't pay any outstanding berthing charges?
