Now now. Big assumption there given that that is not the way the brilliant Charles Collett spelled his name......

I'm surprised your even wasting your time responding to 'collet1930'. All 'it' is, is a faceless member who remains secret who signs up to a forum just to troll, not worth the time.

I'm not 4472's biggest fan i do admit, but she is a fine looking machine and i wont forget being hauled by her on the Orient Express.... just like i won't forget being very ill on said train after eating fish (really dislike fish!) but that's another story....

Black will make a very interesting change from the usual apple green.

But back to topic, I am very happy about this decision!

What an opportunity for special steam excursions to York on that May weekend, I'd have thought. Wonder if anyone will go for it.

Strangely enough there are no tours going to York that weekend, time me thinks for Steam Dreams to get out the Cathedrals Express headboard & get Tornado out of the Cross and up to York - its the only true way to honour FS,

Also some one should run a tour from Crewe/Liverpool with Bittern of SNG on the front, then you could have three iconic locos at the NRM at the same time.

Cant think of a nat collection one that NRM actually overhauled themselves but then FS has been hogging the facility somewhat...

After being handled a lot during the tyre turning and retyring exercise, they need repainting anyway, so black is not a problem - thence apple green afterwards.

    Anthony,
If wartime black was your idea, I'll buy you a pint. I think it's an inspired choice even if it is for the short term.
